GRAY HUNTER
Gray is a senior studying Sustainable Food Systems at Sterling College and is a transplant to Vermont from the West Coast. In California, Oregon, and Washington, he first began farming and was inspired by the simplicity of getting outside and producing one’s own food from seed to harvest and beyond. He believes that truly sustainable food systems are cultivated through close relationships between producers, plants, and the people who love and enjoy them. The craftspersonship involved at each level of making great beer and bread has drawn Gray toward grains, highlighting the intersections of humanity’s practicality as well as creativity. After graduating, Gray plans on continuing to work towards a more integrated grain system by utilizing locally-grown grains in farming, brewing, and baking at a professional level.
